- The Code of Ethics is devised in accordance with the aims and objectives
of the Society.
- A breeder shall only breed from those Fields believed to be as
free as possible form any serious hereditary defects and which are
not suffering from any acute problem. At all times the improvement

- Stud dog owners should satisfy themselves as to the suitability
of the bitches and the circumstances of the person breeding the litter.
Taking note of the recommendation in item 4 of the Code of Ethics.
- It is recommended that bitches should not be bred from until at
least eighteen months of age or at the second season and should not
normally be bred from more than once a year. No bitch should be expected
to produce more than four litters.
- No puppies should be sold under the age of eight weeks. The breeder

owner and the conditions in which the puppy will be kept. Prospective
owners should be advised of the characteristics of the breed. Field
Spaniels should not knowingly be sold to pet shops or dealers. It
should be impressed on the new owners that they should contact the
breeder in the event of any problems with their Field Spaniel, and
the breeder has the responsibility to assist as far as possible.
- Members will not when advertising misrepresent themselves or their
stock and will deal only in a fair and honest manner with clients
who shall be advised of any fault the breeder may be aware of at the
time of sale. At this time each new owner should also be given the
KC Registration Certificate, a completed pedigree, a satisfactory
diet sheet and complete details of worming and inoculations and a
copy of the Code of Ethics.
- Breeders shall at all times be extremely careful when advertising
and selling.
- If puppies are sold on breeding terms a breeding term of contract
should be endorsed by the Kennel Club.
